The Queensland Government is now in caretaker mode until after the state election. Minimal updates will be made to this site until after the election results are declared.

Statutory guidelines are guidelines developed under legislation to provide direction on process and addressing planning issues.

Statutory guidelines have been developed under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 by the planning minister to provide clear and consistent direction to achieve good planning outcomes and accountability in process. The use of statutory guidelines rather than other statutory instruments (e.g. an Act or regulation) is to allow more flexibility to incorporate descriptive and contextual information related to the processes and topics of the guidelines.

The department maintains a list of current statutory guidelines.
