The Queensland Government amended the South East Queensland Regional Plan 2009-2031 State Planning Regulatory Provisions ( 259 KB) (SEQ SPRP) following public consultation on a draft version of the amendments in late 2013.
That amendment of the SEQ SPRP provided local governments in South East Queensland with a greater scope to consider development applications for tourism, and sport and recreational activity outside of the Urban Footprint.
The changes to the SEQ SPRP included:
- the removal of the gross floor area and short-term accommodation thresholds restricting tourist and sport and recreation development outside of the Urban Footprint
- the removal of the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning as a referral agency for the assessment of tourist and sport and recreation development applications for material change of use.
As part of the current SEQ regional plan review, the SEQ SPRP is also being reviewed.
For further information on the SEQ SPRP, please contact the department.
